That is why we are the 'good guys'... sigh

I look at this and think back to the work we did with JIEDDO. We 'never' caught up, because we had to obey the rules... And never had enough people with the 'right' knowledge to get ahead of the bad guys. I hope Treasury has better luck than we did.

That makes me so sad. On one hand, we must play by the rules, because we’re a nation of laws. But the bad guys don’t, and they always wind up ahead. It’s depressing, but we do what we can.

I spent my after-work hours reading this report and highlighted few bits in my post. Anyone in this field should read it to understand where the Treasury and U.S. government are heading. Actions 5 to 11 were particularly notable, as the Treasury is already making significant progress (Action 9!) and committing to a more comprehensive strategy (Action 5/7/10). It's also personally exciting to see that they showed the strong willingness to harness the power of technology for enhanced supervision, enforcement, and understanding of rapidly-changing illicit finance activities. It's motivating and promising that our regime is focused on not only the enforcement, but also proactive measures and actions for strengthening overall integrity and resilience of the system.

I'm really glad to see that they're not ignoring new technologies. I'm also thrilled at the increased collaboration both in the interagency and with foreign partners! Siloes lead to intelligence failures, and information sharing and collaborative action lead to cases such as DeGeetere last year. :)
