A Chat about Ukraine

Address to the Kansas Federation of Republican Women
1

Last month, I gave a talk to the Kansas Federation of Republican Women on Ukraine.

Warning: this is a bit long, but there is a Q&A at the end, that’s also informative, and I was thrilled to see the engagement from the audience!

A few takeaways:

  • The corruption in Ukraine is fought daily, even through Russian missiles raining down on the heads of innocents; corruption is improving, and you can see it by the improvements on the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index

  • “Sleeper” accounts spread disinformation; make sure the news you advance is corroborated and real

  • Russia is NOT worried about NATO expansion, and that WAS NOT the major reason for the full-scale attack on Ukraine

  • NATO did NOT promise that it would not expand to the East after the Berlin Wall fell. The “not one inch” promise refers to western troops not moving further into EAST GERMANY.

  • The United States provided a significant amount of aid to Ukraine, but not $350 billion, and mostly weapons to defend itself against Russian attacks

  • Aid is NOT being laundered by the Ukrainians

  • There’s no blank check to Ukraine; every dollar has been accounted for and appropriated

  • No, Russia won’t launch a nuclear war against the West if we help Ukraine

  • Yes, Ukraine CAN win, if western powers get together and send the weapons they need. Ukraine has been fighting the Russians for 10 years now. They’re still there. Russia’s Black Sea fleet is a joke and was defeated by a country with no Navy.

  • A “ceasefire” is garbage; Russia violates ceasefires within hours of their implementation and without hesitation

  • No, President Zelensky did not ban Orthodox Christianity in Ukraine

  • Russia is NOT a defender of Christianity
